Readers’ Theatre is one way of discovering part of this process. As actors read from scripts using stands, extra attention is focused on the playwright’s words and intentions. In this informal setting, audiences are allowed to experience theatre in a whole new way.

By eliminating the spectacle of full sets and costumes (some minimal prop and costuming can be used), actors have the benefit of claiming the role and in doing so, you, the audience, are taken away by deeper character development, soon forgetting that scripts are being used.

A grant of $1,000 became the 'spring-board' that helped the Coaster test the waters for a regular year round Readers Theatre Series. A dream of the Coaster is to then take the productions to senior care facilities and public schools, providing the county wiht a viable cultural outreach.
