GRANT AWARD

Destination: The Pacific
Heritage Area Speaker Forums

The Columbia River collides with the Pacific Ocean and a unique confluence of American history unfolds.

The rich tapestry of historical, cultural, and natural history that flourishes here has captured the attention and imagination of the United States Congress who have introduced a Bill to authorize a study of the region for future designation as a National Heritage Area.

A critical component of the study to develop a Heritage Area is a public input process that involves two stakeholder and public wokships, a public review, and a series of educational forums that focus on the five themes of the proposed Columbia-Pacific National Heritage Area honoring the past, the present, and the future. The $1,000 grant went specifically to help underwrite the feasibility study public workshops and the 2008 public Heritage Area Speaker Forums planned around the study themes.
