The Dragon Kiln Crosses Culture
|
|
The anagama Dragon Kiln has developed a grassroots local identity. Richard Rowland and a few other artists built the kiln with brick salvaged from the Columbia River and it has been operation since 1984.From that organic beginning there has been an unexpected outcome that no one can completely explain. The kiln has become a gaterhing place for community members who are engaged in fostering the connection between the community, the environment, and art. This grant was awarded to bring in outside instruction from potters who work in a different cultural environment. The money was matched by funds from the Sather Fund. |
