The Coaster Thatre has had an educational theatre program in place for the past 7 summers; a 2 week theater camp for children between the ages of 6-14, which culminates in a production open to the public. A problem with the program is that students have a terrific exeprience, and then disappear until the next summer. This project will continue the educaitonal experience throughout the school year with a number of different programs. These programs will include one day acting workshops on 'in-wervice' days off from school, 10 week Saturday workshops culminating in a perfomrance as well as one, two and three day workshops on technical theater for both young people and adults.

Patrick Lanthrop will spearhead this new program. Patrick most recently created an educational theater program for the Old Globe Theater in San Diego. The Oregon Cultural Trust funds will be used in conjunction with funds from other small grants and individual donations.
