The first phase of this project brings students together with Evo, a gifted cultural educator and performer. Research supports the importance of connection with personal cultures for social and cognitive growth. Students will be given the opportunity to spend two afternoons learning the histories, stories and dances of several countries, and cultures within America.

The second phase will be a public art show at the AVA gallery, featuring photography and art by students who are responding to this cultural event. In addition, aligned lesson plans that create an anticipatory set for the school performances and lessons will include family inovolement activities and be distributed by the Parent's Club to all classrooms.
